Interesting. VERY subjective. My criteria for good music? "Is this a song that someone will want to re-record in 2 / 5 /.10 years time?

I like all kinds of music. Even a bit of Country is ok now and then.

Choosing music while preparing is anything that gets you going and inspires. At the dinner table the music should allow conversation and in some cases can even inspire conversation.. "What are you playing".

No.. no no .. if you're cooking Mexican you do not automatically start playing Mexican music. HOWEVER, I did do a dinner party once where I turned the house into Rick's cafe from Casablanca, complete with the arches outside the house.

As you walked past rooms in the house Sam played THAT SONG and in the bathroom Rick talked to you for however long you were in there.

In the back yard you could could make out the airport and the plane ready to go.
